  1. "Gloom" emerged in an age of dwindling thrash and ascending death and grind. Whereas most bands at the time wore faces of stone seriousness, Macabre brought about humor to an otherwise unoriginal genre. The importance and individuality of this band and this album cannot be stated enough/5(7).
  2. Vinyl is muddy and noisy. It is also slightly warped. I own the album on cassette and CD and this LP is the worst I’ve ever heard it sound. During quiet passages you can hear a consistent static sound (whssssshh, whssssshh, whssssshh) due to the warping and /5(1).
  3. The major reason why "Oh Mercy" is so good is because of its producer Daniel Lanois. 8 years later Lanoius and Dylan would team up once again and make the Grammy award winning "Time Out Of Mind" album. A great effort on their part to be sure but I always thought "Oh Mercy" was the better of these two albums. The production of this record is great/5().
